Welcome to our webpage! We hope that you find it informative. Please contact us with any questions or concerns.
Here at Mint Hill Middle School, there are two classrooms for students following the Extensions Program. For more information about the teachers, click on Meet the Teachers.
Our team puts a heavy focus on academics, however functional and social skills are also a central part of our daily schedule. Homework will be given and grades are based on effort (prompting level) as well as results. Additional detailed information on our day will be given at Curriculum Night (TBA). We will also be going on many field trips for Special Olympics as well as Community Based Instruction outings.
Each day, a daily communication log will be sent home with details of your child’s day. This will include what they worked on, the overall prompting level needed, overall achievement level, and any comments, if needed. We like to keep these logs as a mode of communication as well as documentation of academic and behavioral progress.
As mentioned, there are two classrooms for students following the extensions program and each child will have a homeroom teacher but will also be placed in a group that will best meet their academic and behavioral needs. IEP goals are incorporated within each group session, as well as one-on-one and independent work sessions. Please see the following page for a better idea of the daily schedule (subject to change).
Three wonderful assistants are on our team: Maya Shinn, Lore Bidstrup, and Nancy Hardy. They serve a vital role on our team and their hard work and dedication are very much appreciated.
We are looking forward to a wonderfully successful year full of progress and fun!
Sincerely,
Michele McCullough and Becky Bender
